A Poignent Update - Dane Williams - Why?

A night time picture of a poster asking for information regarding the death of Dane WilliamsPicture taken 25 January 2009

The first entry on this blog included mention of a makeshift shrine to the memory of Dane Williams. The above picture shows an appeal for information about about his death. It was taken right across the street from where the shrine was located. It is a year since his death. It is obvious that his love one's still want an answer. Some questions are haunting. What happened to Dane Williams, why him? But, in the end what does it matter. We all hang onto life by such a delicate string. He could have just as easily been hit by a drunk driver. Life is fragile. While I do hope that answers are found. I also hope that those who love Williams can let the mystery go and celebrate the years of his life whether than be tortured by the mystery of his last day's.

Three Kinds of Altars

When you think of Altars, Shrines and Temples you tend to think of Japan, or China. But I have noticed that there are plenty of altars in San Diego. There are shrines to the dead. This is a shrine to Dane Williams who died mysteriously 26 January and 28 January 2008. His family must be really pushing the search for an explanation because to this day there are adverts requesting information every where down town.

There are also shrines where people give gifts to the gods. A gift to the the gods is a gift to the poor. Often times these gifts take the form of food, or cans or bottles which can be recycled for the California redemption value. The picture above is of a Red Bull can on top of a PETA magazine despenser.

Both of these pictures where taken outside the Cost Plus on Fourth Avenue. Cost Plus's info is as
follows:

372 4th Ave

I do my recycling at Time Recycling Center its info is as follows:

The third type of altar is one where people give the gift of their old clothes. These altars could also appear on the San Diego Stripteas blog. These sandals where found on a trash can outside The Soho Shoe Lab on Fifth Avenue. The info for Soho Shoe Lab is as follows.
